Chemo Complete!

Published on 8 June 2021 at 10:20

So happy to be done with this phase of my treatment. Cancer is a lifelong journey. I have to be realistic and know I have a greater risk of reoccurrence being BRCA1 positive. I start a PARP inhibitor in about 4 weeks, which is like low dose chemo in a tablet form that I will take daily. For now I will celebrate being cancer free!!! Every day I will hope and pray it doesn't return in one form or another. Thank you to my doctors, nurses, friends and most importantly, my family. Today wouldn't be possible without you all.

So happy this phase of my cancer journey is complete. I still have the side effects to work through the next few weeks, but I'm glad I don't have to go back for more. I also know I have to be realistic knowing my chances of reoccurrence are higher since I am BRCA1 positive. So I will continue to be monitored not only for ovarian, but also breast cancer. In about 4 weeks I will start a PARP inhibitor, which is like low dose chemo in a tablet I will take daily for who knows how long. For now though I will celebrate being Cancer-Free!!!

Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, my friends and most importantly my family for all your support. This day would not be possible without you.

Now it's time to let my hair grow back 😊
