I want to thank Stephanie Rowan, a fellow Ovarian Cancer Teal Warrior first & foremost, who introduced me to Dr. Nydia, yoga 🧘♀️instructor.
Ive taken 3 Gentle yoga classes so far through livestream Zoom. The first class was pretty hard for me. My core was pretty weak to do some of the stretches but since I've been walking more it's helping build strength. It's amazing what just walking can do for your body.
By the 3rd class I was able to go through all the moves. I enjoyed it so much I wanted more. Nydia is amazing at putting your mind and body at ease. Her breathing techniques help
The progressive yoga class was a bit harder for me. You go into more of the poses. I could do most but twisting can be a bit hard with all my abdomen restrictions. I also couldn't lay on my stomach.
Nydia did show a way to go fade down by putting a wedge under my hips such as a blanket or yoga block. She is so good! You just go to your own limitations and just remember to breathe. If you can't hold a normal breath you're going to far. So I'm glad she constantly reminds us of that.
If you're looking for a good yoga instructor, I highly recommend Nydia. Her classes are on Zoom and she's starting to have small in-person classes. I can't wait to get back to it after surgery.
